Gainsborough Old Hall Wedding Fayre

28 Mar

Brand new designs in a very old building

I enjoyed my time yesterday at Gainsborough Old Halls first Wedding Fayre event.  I had never been before, but it is quite an unusual building, as you will see in some of these photos from the day:

I’m sure I looked funny in the morning arriving with boxes of plants and sweetie jars to a Wedding Fayre, but it was all for a reason = new designs for quirky favour labels, name places, and table numbers.  I also designed some new table number plant signs, with the background patterns from my final degree project inspired by afternoon tea – can you see the tea cups in the pattern?

My old favourite ‘button table numbers’ were displayed with some new menu designs, and co-ordinating plates hand painted by me.

The day seemed to go so quickly, but I did have a quick wander and found these quirky internal features next to the tea shop (any excuse).

The venue people were friendly as were the other people displaying, including the photographers either side of my display.   There was Paul from local studio Red Pepper Studios based in Gainsborough, and Reg Moore whose work is featured in magazines including Lincolnshire Pride.

For more designs take a look at my Wedding Stationery page; keep up to date with other Events I will be attending by joining my official Facebook page or check my Events page.

If you have a stationery design or idea in mind, please get in touch and I will be happy to discuss the possibilities.

What did you do last Summer?

11 Nov

Well, there has been a bit of a gap in blogging over the last few months, so its time to start up again, and (very) briefly explain what I’ve been doing…

During the Spring and Summer I was designing a range of Wedding Stationery, taking photos of beautiful flowers (lots of roses!), doing computer bits, printing, cutting, stamping, glueing buttons, tieing ribbons, making samples, and much more…

I still need to get some lovely photos together of some of the creations, but here is a little taster of the Menu to get started.

BUSY BEES

Just a little post to share this quick nature snap.

I’ve been out in the garden and parks over the last few weeks taking photos of flowers for a special stationery commission, and snapped this pic.  Its amazing how fast they work – I had several attempts at a ‘bee on a flower’ pic before I caught this one.

Remember… the Bees need our help!

CORAL ROSES

Just a quick one, to share the stunning colour of these roses I snapped – isn’t nature clever…?

It’s part of some research I’m doing for a new commission for wedding stationery.  (It’s also a good excuse to buy some beautiful flowers!)

Now the clocks have gone forward (yay! – brighter days and longer evenings), I thought it was about time to post a Springtime piccie, and what better than Daffodils?

Have a happy Springtime everyone!  😉

Visit to RHS Tatton Flower Show 2009

24 Aug

ALL THINGS BRIGHT AND BEAUTIFUL…

I know the RHS Tatton Flower Show happened last month, but here are a few pics from my visit anyway…

There was glorious sunshine when we arrived as the photo below proves, but moments after this, the rain absolutely poured down, so we rushed into the nearby RHS Floral Marquee to wait it out…

There were some beautiful displays in the massive Floral Marquee (as you would expect) and fantastic, vibrant colours – some inspiration for future creations maybe?

There were some stunning displays in the Floral Design Studio marquee too, including this one which grabbed my attention as soon as I walked in – ultra modern and sculptural, its large scale can’t really be appreciated from a photo.

I also liked the use of old-school vinyl records in this music themed display – it just wouldnt look as good with CDs!

During a brief break in the rain, I walked past this outdoor display, and had to take a photo – promoting the use of recycled materials, pupils had made decorations for the School Garden display.  This particular creation represented the ‘Hey Diddle Diddle’ nursery rhyme (the one with the cat, fiddle, cow, dog, dish and spoon…) and it caught my eye because they had re-used buttons to decorate the cow and cat – an excellent choice!

Eventually, the rain beat us on the day, but on our retreat out of the Park, I noticed these beautiful deer – not bothered as we drove past them, so I had to take a quick pic…
